Product Introduction-Ytterbium-doped Fiber Amplifier


The Ytterbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier (YDFA) uses a semiconductor pump laser to excite ytterbium-doped gain fiber, providing efficient optical amplification in the 1030–1080nm wavelength range. The amplifier offers optional and continuously adjustable saturated output power at 17/20/23/25/26/27/30/33/37/40dBm, featuring high gain, low noise, and stable output performance.

 

Available in both benchtop and compact module configurations, the YDFA supports front-panel control, serial communication, and PC software operation, making it suitable for applications such as 1064nm laser amplification in scientific research, industrial laser systems, fiber laser applications, and precision optical measurement systems.

Operation Steps-Ytterbium-doped Fiber Amplifier


 

Step1. Unpacking and Assembly: Before assembly, check whether all accessories are complete, including power cable or power adapter, fiber jumpers, operation manual, test report, etc.

Connect the power supply: Benchtop amplifiers can be directly connected to AC power; modular amplifiers should be connected to a DC switching power supply or regulated power supply that meets their power supply requirements.

 

Use special equipment and tools (fiber end-face inspector, fiber connector cleaning kit) to inspect and clean the fiber connector end face. Only when it is completely clean, use fiber jumpers to connect the signal light source to the amplifier input port.

 

Step2. Turn on the power supply of the amplifier, select the working mode in the PC software, and set parameters such as output power or pump current.

Note: Each time the amplifier module is powered on, the working mode (APC/ACC) and the working current or output power of the amplifier are the parameter settings from the last use. If adjustment is needed, it can be modified through the PC software. The amplifier is usually set to the minimum working current and minimum output power by default at the factory.

 

Step3. Press the activation key switch (ACT) on the module and click the soft activation switch (SOFTACTIVE) on the PC software. At this time, the laser signal starts to be amplified and output. During the experiment, the working mode and output power can be adjusted in a timely manner as needed.

Note: When the amplifier is in the light-emitting state (activation switch is on), it is strictly prohibited to plug, unplug, or connect fiber jumper connectors; otherwise, the fiber jumper connector end face and the amplifier itself are likely to be damaged, leading to malfunctions.

 

Setp4. After use, turn off the activation key switch (ACT) to cut off the amplifier output, turn off the power supply, and disconnect the fiber connection.

Operation Notes and Maintenance-Ytterbium-doped Fiber Amplifier


● The amplifier should work within the rated optical signal wavelength and power range. Do not input optical signals beyond the specified range. Refer to the product test report for specific parameters.

● Before starting, ensure the power switch and key switch are turned off, then connect the power supply. When shutting down, first turn off the key switch, and disconnect the power supply after the output indicator goes out. Do not directly cut off the power supply when the amplifier is working.

● Frequent plugging/unplugging of input and output fiber connectors is not recommended, as it may cause dust contamination, increased insertion loss, or burning of the fiber connector end face.

● The FC/APC connector at the main output port is for power testing only; it is strictly prohibited to connect it to other fiber connectors. If the output fiber needs to be connected to other fibers, fusion splicing with a fiber fusion splicer is recommended.

● Keep the device away from moisture, dust, and corrosion; store it in a dry place.

 

Quality Assurance and After-Sales Service-Ytterbium-doped Fiber Amplifier


● Warranty Period:

Free repair or replacement for non-human-induced defects within 1 year from purchase. Paid maintenance services available after 1 year.

● Exclusions from Free Warranty:

During the free warranty period, free repair or replacement services will be provided for faults caused by product quality issues. However, Box Optronics retains the right to refuse free repair services in the following cases within the warranty period:

(1) Damage caused by natural factors (e.g., lightning, dust) or environmental influences.

(2) Malfunctions due to improper operation by the user.

(3) Obvious physical damage caused by human error.

(4) Unauthorized disassembly, modification, or repair.

(5) Altered or incomplete warranty labels on the housing.

(6) Damage or loss during transportation.
